Project 001 – Living Under Inflation – Background & OKRs

@leoye3

Background:

Sri Lanka is currently experiencing a high inflation rate of 50.6% in 2022.

A large number of Sri Lankan workers are leaving the country for jobs abroad, with official records suggesting that 300,000 people left in 2022. From January to March of 2023, another 73,000 Sri Lankans left the country for work opportunities elsewhere.

Essential services such as hospitals and air-traffic control are losing staff, creating concerns about the impact on the country’s infrastructure and future growth.

This project aims to share the perspectives of Sri Lankans who are living under high inflation, and report on the impact it has on their daily, spiritual, and professional lives. By doing so, we hope to encourage reflection on how ordinary people can prepare for an economic crisis of this scale, and to identify ways for local Sri Lankans to gain stable income.
